Archive for January, 2010

So I have been pretty out of it these past few nights. My body is battling another cold, yes ANOTHER! Don’t worry though my internet friends, I haven’t forgotten about you. I promised to blog, and so blog I will! (I am still a few short, but once my health bar has made its way back to full I will have lots more to say!)

For now, I will leave you with some of my favorite images from my travels. This past year or so I have been extremely fortunate, and have been able to check off quite a few places off of my travel list. To name a few: Paris, Italy, Hawaii, China, Thailand, and Montreal. My places to visit in this world is so long, that I am very grateful to have been able to knock off this many so far. So here we go. Travel with me to these beautiful places.

I have a few favorites, where are you favorite places that you have traveled?

After a lot of endless conversations between Tim and I, we decided to move. Well, to be honest, I decided. And if I am being totally honest, the conversations consisted of me talking…

The main reason for my itch to move to a bigger place was 1. to have more space, and 2. to have an office. We were living in a very spacious 2 bedroom condo, but my office was located in our master bedroom – as Tim’s brother had been living with us since relocating to Calgary. As a wedding photographer, with a home based business you spend most of your time in your office (when you aren’t shooting). This was WAY too much time to be spending in the confines of my bedroom. Where you work and where you sleep should be completely separate spaces! So we moved to a house!

Welcome to Chantal Milaine’s office!

I am heading up North tomorrow to do a photo-shoot in Edmonton, and will return Tuesday evening. Don’t worry internet, I won’t forget about you! I won’t be able to blog tomorrow, but I WILL blog twice on Tuesday evening. Thats right TWICE! Watch out world, Chantal Milaine has let her voice speak, good luck getting her to stop talking now!

Dala-licious!

01.22.10

I got to spend this evening listening to two ladies with two of the most beautiful voices that I have ever heard. Angels, that’s what they sounds like…purely angelic. It’s as if these two beauties voices were created to compliment one another.

Last month, Tim and I went to the Chantal Kreviazuk concert here in Calgary. She is amazing herself, and never disappoints. She had a new opening act that I had never heard of. I am a big fan of female artists, especially accoustic female artists…pianos, guitars, oh my oh my, these are a few of my favorite things! This is when I was first introduced to the Dala Girls. At this concert they mentioned that they were coming back to Calgary in January, and as soon as I got home I rushed to my computer purchased tickets.

The first time I saw these girls play, their words and sound touched my heart and resonated in my thoughts long after, but this time around was even more powerful. I got to share this joy with a close friend of mine, Sean Liv (*More to come about her in the near future), and it was so nice to share this experience with her and expose her to the Dala’s talent.

Judge for yourselves…This song below has “Horses” has been named one of theĀ Top 10 Folk Songs of 2009 by NPR and has a wonderful story to it. This song is about a young man, who in his teens was in an accident that left him with a severe spinal chord injury. Left in a wheelchair, with no physical voice, the Dala’s spent some time getting to know him and thought that they would write a song to help give him a voice. (Check it out below)
